Studying: Mark 10
Thoughts: Good
I started something new today. I got the idea from some advice I received from a seminary professor of mine at RTS about 5 years ago. Dr. Elias Meideros was my advisor. Dr. Meideros is from Brazil, so his native language is not English, but he speaks it almost perfectly, just a bit accented which is expected. I remember asking him once though about how difficult it was for him to learn another language to the point to where praying, reading, studying and teaching in it was just as natural to him as his native tongue. He told me that early on as he learned English he began reading the Bible every day in English, and then started doing his regular devotional time in English too, even praying in English.
So today, I'm going to give it a try. It takes me almost 3 times as long to read one chapter, but hey, I was able to read it and understand it. I may not do this every day, but I believe it will be good for me. On a very practical note I noticed that reading it in Russian allowed me to slow down and focus more on the passage, thinking about it more along the way.
Don't worry, I'll continue to post comments here in English!
