Full Day

Studying: Galatians 4-6, Ephesians 1-2
Memorizing: Romans 1:1-18, Ephesians 2:1-10
Thoughts: Good, but with some challenges today

If I may be pardoned, I will begin again with Proverbs tomorrow.  Again, note, when I'm not blogging through Proverbs I'm still reading the Word.  I like to do the Proverbs blog as something extra, but there are days like today where I'm simply unable.

Today was a good Lord's Day.  We were able to spend time together as a family this morning before heading off to church.  We enjoy the fellowship and worship very much at Light of Christ. The pastor, Mikhail, was back after being sick last week.  It was good to see him again.

After worship we had some friends over, Kolya and his wife Lena.  When I visited Saint Petersburg last March to setup some things I stayed with my friend Trevor and his then single roomate Kolya.  Kolya got married over the summer, and we just recently touched base since being here in Russia.  We had a good time tonight.  It's encouraging that our Russian has gotten to a point where we can actually get together with Russians and generally understand what's going on.

But something really exciting happened at the end of the evening.  Over dinner Kolya had asked me if we would be interested in making contact with some people in Saint Petersburg who are already doing ministry with invalids.  We of course said yes, and he proceeded to place a phone call before he left.  He handed the phone to me and on the other end of the line was a perfect British accent from a man named Tobias.  As it turns out he already knew about us through Kolya.  Tobias and I talked for almost 20 minutes and he proceeded to inform me about the multitude of ministries already going on here in SP.  Long story short, we're meeting with him, his wife and 2yo daughter this Friday to explore possibilities of connecting our vision for ministry with theirs.  I will, of course, keep you all informed as to how this turns out.

On another note, lately the Devil seems to be really trying to "break in."  By God's grace he hasn't but that's not for lack of trying on his part.  Please pray that I would stay on track and keep my focus, giving no opportunity for evil.

Also, I would greatly appreciate your prayers as I again prepare to teach the 4 Russian pastors in training this Thursday.  I'm doing a music class with them for about three hours every Thursday afternoon.  Last Thursday was the first time and it went fairly well.
