Studying: Mark 1-3
Thoughts: Good
"And Jesus seeing their faith said to the paralytic, 'Son, your sins are forgiven.' But some of the scribes were sitting there and reasoning in their hearts, 'Why does this man speak this way? He is blaspheming; who can forgive sins but God alone?'" Mark 2:5-7
Exactly! Not to the first part of verse 7 but to the last question that the Scribes ask "Who can forgive sins but God alone?" That's the whole point, no one can forgive sins but God alone. Jesus is God! Jesus makes this abundantly clear when he says later "'But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins' - He said to the paralytic, 'I say to you, get up, pick up your pallet and go home.'"
What amazes me is that when you present these verses to non-trinitarians the backflips that they do in order to get past the idea that Jesus' divinity is very clear here. No one can forgive sins but God, and if Jesus forgives sins, well then, he's God.
